Jasmine has slowly started to slide back. The next plan is to replace the plasma in her blood so as to filter out any antibodies that might be attacking her lungs. Today they put the bipap back on her so she could sleep. I have no idea what to think now. On Monday they are going to do a procedure called a plasmapheresis, where they basically swap out the plasma in her blood for new plasma. The point is to remove any antibodies that might be attacking her lungs. The doctors are hopeful this will take care of the problem. Often only one or two treatments take care of the problem forever, but sometimes it becomes a regular part of post-transplant treatment. We’ll just have to wait and see. If it’s going to help, we should see some improvement by midweek, but as I mentioned, sometimes it takes more than one treatment.
