Reclaiming Core Curriculum
Rites of Passage
The Rites of Passage focuses on dreams, myths and language, using traditional and non-traditional tales and techniques to create a personal rite of passage. Through storytelling, trance, release work and dreams we receive our challenge(s), meet our helpers, work through our blocks and emerge renewed, reborn. This class culminates with a ritual created by the students.
I will be taking this class again in August.
Pentacle of Pearl
We will work with the deep, healing energies of the Pentacle of Pearl, moving through the five points: Love, Law, Wisdom, Power and Knowledge.
If I don’t find this class in IL this year, I’ll look to other communities.
Prairie Fire Coven Recognition Areas- Proficiency level
Ritual Arts
1. Lead trances in at least three rituals – both single and double voice
I only have to do one double voice trance to be done with this.
2. Knowledge of three big drum (djembe, doumbek, etc.) rhythms
I’m done with this and think that the drum circles will be a good place to play with it.
3. Grounding – demonstrate three different ways of grounding (chakras, tree, two powers {ADF})
I need to do the Two Powers grounding and I will be done with this. I’d be happy to make it into a mini-workshop though. Anyone interested in co-teaching with me?
Community Leadership
1. Organize a class or event
No update on this.
2. Mentor a fellow Sapling in organizing (Cedar)
I think MarshAster is doing a better job of this than I am right now. Cedar, we need to meet and talk about this when I get back.
Life Skills
1. Personal Finance – create and follow a personal budget for 2004
This is one of the five concrete things I need to do from last week’s reading with River.
2. Self care – maintain a daily practice and find three ways to nurture myself that don’t involve eating!
I guess the only person who can judge this proficiency is me, and I think I’m doing pretty well with it.
Magical Arts
1. Be proficient in tarot – complete readings for all members of coven
MarshAster and I are working through the Mary Greer book. I think I’ll be ready to start doing readings by the end of summer.
2. Demonstrate uses of elemental magic (using earth, air, fire and water in workings)
This would be another workshop. I don’t want to step on the Fire workshop though. Again, anyone interested in co-teaching?
